Anaesthesia for Epilesy Surgery!

Epilepsy surgery is not new. Cases have been described as early as 1879. It became evident that outcome can be improved by excising lesions in the awake patient under local anaesthesia so that functionally important areas could be spared. Since then interest in epilepsy surgery has waxed and waned due to variable results. It has recently received renewed attention, and careful review of the indications and anaesthetic implications is important.
